In our culture, there’s this idea we need to be *switched on* and *productive* at all times.┬áThat taking time out is *wrong* or *bad*. That idle time is *wasted time*.

I fall into this trap too. It’s hard to have guilt-free time, to potter and dilly-dally (both of these are such grandma-type words, aren’t they?)

I needed to write some webcopy this afternoon. But instead I distracted myself (watching this fascinating TED talk, amongst other things).

I have one rule for myself when I procrastinate: No guilt.

Thoughts like “I should be …” aren’t helpful.

If I catch myself procrastinating, I make it a choice, and I throw myself into it. Enjoy it. No regrets.
